File SharingHave you ever downloaded music, movies, programs without paying for them? I am not talking about the free trials software manufacturer's offer to get their foot in the door for a future purchase. I am referring to the use of Bit Torrents, the old Napster, Bearshare, Limewire, etc. I came across a news article online talking about a mother in Minn. whom was found to be guilty of copyright infringement and fined $80,000 PER song. Here is a link to the article to read more. My advice has always been to pick a vendor of choice: I-Tunes, Rhapsody, etc. and pay $1 per song and only buy the songs you want. Upon downloading, burn them to a disc or put them on a flash drive. Be warned that YOU are required to back up your music. If you lose it do to computer failure, virus, system reload, user error, etc. most of these sites make you pay for it again. Enjoy your favorite music risk free by using the muscle in your head before downloading! Cheers, Paul J. Chrisco |
